Just had my Fine Molds X-Wing fighter arrive from Japan. I ordered them from Hobbylink Japan and they took 20 days to get here. Cost was about $17+ a piece and shipping was $8, total cost was $44 for two delivered. I will do a review later as scif-fi models are my second love. For any of you who last built the large X-Wing from the first movie or the snap-tite one from the Return of the Jedi, this one will knock you dead. It has detail comparable to the best 1/72 scale Japanese aircraft kits. Decal sheet is huge.

Rob,
I love Star Wars. My second big hobby over the last 25 years. Collecting SW stuff.
I was doing a super-detailed X-wing kit 12 years ago. I had rigged up lighting for the engines and cockpit. Never finished it though.

It is a nice kit - on caveat - do your main painting with an airbrush, the panels lines are a little thin and spray paint will obscure them.
Also, use a very light grey paint for virtually all the parts...

If the panel lines are thin could you pre-shade with with a dark color before applying the basecoat to get them to standout more?

Rob...I don't see it in the approval que. Was there a problem posting it?

I see it now. Nice review. What was the scale of the original ERTL kit? It must have been closer to 1/48 right?

Although unstated, it was about 1/48 and the snap-tite Return of the Jedi version was about 1/72.

Yep - I suggest a Euro Grey...

That may be difficult, they are hair thin and about as deep. Very fine, petite panel lines. Superbly done though. If the panel lines are thin could you pre-shade with with a dark color before applying the basecoat to get them to standout more?
