Hi everybody,
this is my first posting here - let's see, whether there are some true WW1 cracks around...
On the Armorama-forum Here.
I have found this photo
from the Tankograd publication "Sturmtruppen", showing the German Fokker E-plane with a camouflage, something I have never seen with this plane before! Is this a well known pic to the WWI community? Anything known about the unit that operated this colourful plane? Are there any drawings of this plane with this camo around?
Thank you very much in advance!
Richard

Firstly, welcome to Aeroscale! You will find plenty of WWI buffs on here.
Secondly, to answer your question, I think you will find it is a Fokker D.II and not a Fokker E-type. See here (post #656):

Hope this helps!

Seems, like you were awfully right, Brad: Thank you! I had a closer look at the pic and, yes, it's a biplane. I normally am much more a "C-Class-Plane-Addict", like the Roland C II or the Hannover Cl IIIa so that I am not too firm in German single-seater-biplanes. To admit it clearly: Never heard of a Fokker D II before...

Yes this is a Fokker D.II in flight. The three toned German camouflage of this period was seen on D & C. class aircraft (1916 - early 1917).
Here is a great reference on the subject.
"Fokker Fighters D.I - D.IV (Classics of WWI Aviation). Peter Grosz chronicles the early biplane Fokker fighters with over 105 rare photos, 12 pages of 1:48/1:72 scale plans detailing all four types, colour data plus 9 exclusive colour plates. 54 pages. £16.00"
Here is my build of the kit. the serial # is just a rough guess.

Thank you Stephen for the information (always thankful for good literature-hints!) and for showing your Fokker-beauty! Now I know...
