Hello All,
I want to achieve a satin/eggshell finish on an aircraft model I am completing and was thinking of using humbrol satin cote.
It will be airbrushed over a coat future floor wax.
Any thoughts or suggestions regarding the proper application by airbrush of this product?
Do I thin it with Humbrol enamel thinner (product# AC7500)?
Any recommendations of other clear coats which produce a satin/eggshell finish?
Thanks.
Matt

Thick gunk that settles on the bottom takes a lot of mixing.
Thin with Humbrol enamel thinners.
I prefer Vallejo Satin Varnish 522. Dries quickly to a nice hard finish that does not pick up finger marks when touched.

Recently I've been using Johnson Klear (Future) mixed with a little bit of Tamiya X-21 or Gunze H40 Flat Base.
I normally use an old Tamiya jar (cleaned out) fill it up with Klear and then use a pipette to add the flat base a drop at a time and mix until I'm happy with the required finish by testing on a scrap kit.
Hope this helps

Antoni & Allen,
Thank you for your replies.
I will try the Vallejo Satin Varnish. Which thinner do you recommend for airbrush application?
I will also experiment with the Future with the Tamiya Flat Base added.

I can get away without thinning Vallejo varnish but that might not work with other airbrushes. You can use water, Tamiya Acrylic Thinners, or their own thinners 524. There own thinners are milky white, similar to the acrylic medium.
