masking of formation lights?

I have tamiya tape or liquid mask...maybe bare metal foil? the1/48 academy p-47D formation lights are so cooool I tinted them with tamiya clear colors and would not like to botch this up.

Little round lenses? It's easy if you have a punch set. Stick some Tamiya tape to a piece of thin acetate or styrene and punch out the proper sized disc- peel off the tape and you're good to go! Cutting with sharpened brass or aluminum tubing is also an option. Good luck- and cheers!

Another way of doing it would be to thin the liquid mask with water and then add a drop over the light. Capillary action should allow the mask to flow around the edges and give a clean demarcation.
If the mask overflows then just let it dry, peel it off, and try again.
