I've only built armor in the past but would really like a ME109 in my collection in 1/48 scale. I don't know if this the right place to ask, but can someone recommend the best manufacturer and particular model (hopefully even kit #) for ease of building and accuracy?
Regards
Symon

Symon, this truly is the place to ask!
I have first hand experience only of Hasegawa Me109 series. There were several variants available with superb accuracy, photo etched parts and great fittings. I didn´t even need any putty with my tropical Me109.
I also heard Tamiya makes great Me109s as well.
Good luck with your hunting!
Toni

hasegawa makes a very nice bf109... It's probably the best one around.
I think that fujimi and probably also tamiya certainly produce a rather fine one.
But then, what are you looking for exactly ?
an early war version ?
battle of britain ?
western europe ?
north africa ?
eastern front ?
eastern front wintertime ?
american bomber intercept ?
a special ace ?
a swiss bf109, or a captured one ?
There are so many possibilities... and everything I've described before can be found.
But for some specialties, you'll need some aftermarket decals.
Otherwise, hobbycraft makes some less detailed models, but in very interesting versions :
very early war (even spanish war), after war czech and israeli versions...

Welcome Symon! As the others have said there are lots of 109's to choose from out there.
I built a Hobbycraft 109E,a couple of years back, not a bad kit at all and cheap here in Canada.I also built the Monogram 109G which was a great build!I think the Mono is available in stores, probably as a Revell re-box?.The Hasegawa series of 109's are supposed to be good with lots of versions to choose from.

I've always watched the hobbycraft avia S99 (czech built bf109) in israeli markings with great interest.
It certainly changes a lot from reich defense model G...
And I'm sure that eduard has some brass detailing for the hobbycraft messerschmitts...

Hi, I would recommend the 1/48 scale Tamiya 109. That way you can get all the aftermarket stuff and really make it a beautiful kit. :-)

Hey Penny, how about an 'in-progress' shot of your 109?
Tread, :-)

Many thx Penny, after seeing your 16, I can't wait for a glimpse of your build of 'Galland's 109'.
Complete with in-dash cigar lighter!
Tread.
Hey wait, how about an ash tray?

Check out the reviews section in www.modelingmadness.com and the feature articles section at www.hyperscale.com for plenty of evaluation go Tamiya and Hasegawa and Hobbycraft 109's. My head still swims . . . .
