Hello everyone.
Have you any review of this model from Academy? (1/48 MIG-29AS [Slovak Air Force])?

Anyone builded it alrady?

I want to buy this kit as soon as it will be available and I am looking to find upgrades as well.

I am sure it is 99% identical to their MiG-29A kit (with new decals), which has been around a while but it more or less decent.

reviews for that kit:

etc - just do a google search on "mig-29 academy review" for many others.

I have to say the colors for the digital camo don't look particularly right...

Of the MiG-29 reviews Vance listed, the Vodnik Academy MiG-29A review is by far the best.

As mentioned, the MiG-29AS (Slovak Air Force) kit is identical to the standard MiG-29, aside from a few small parts added like the AIFF antennas.

Like most of Academy's 48th scale jets, the MiG-29 has a lot of major shape inaccuracies and fit issues.
Here are the discrepancies I noted when building a couple of Academy MiG-29s:
- All the missiles are wrong and best replaced.
- The cockpit is a joke; being way too shallow and the detail is weak. The seat looks more like a chair than a K-36. I highly recommend the Aires cockpit.
- The canopy has profile and size issues, but nothing to really worry about, unless you know of a replacement.
- The nose/radome shape is too pointed, but again that's been addressed. Pisco and QB market corrected radomes; another recommendation.
- The LERX is not well represented, but there's really not much you can do about that.
- Both upper engine bay bulges need to be reshaped by shaving down the aft “flare” bulging.
- The vertical tails have some shape issues, but don’t exactly recall off hand.
- Wingtip RWR antennas, and light housing require reshaping.
- The Intakes are way too narrow; approximately 30%. No correction exists for this problem; yet
- The exhausts are not even close and are best replaced.
- Aside from raised dashes the wheel wells are void of detail and do not fit cleanly; resulting in major gaps. Aires provides wheel wells, but they are as bad to fit as the stock ones.
-The speed brake center dome is too small in diameter.

- Corrections required for the Landing gear:
The main struts are too long, which results in the model’s aft end being too high or level. About an 1/8” needs to be cut from the main struts. This will give the MiG-29 characteristic “Ass-End” squat. Re-contour the NLG dragbrace/door assembly by simply filling in the rod like bulge to a chime cross section.

The multi-part nose section was the worst of the fit issues I encountered. The main wheel well inserts were also pretty bad. The intake ducts are plagued with major punch holes and seams, but these can be covered with the intake ramp/plug. Watch out for the wing joint, as it tends to be weak. With a lot of work and AM, a nice MiG-29 can still be made from this kit; though not an easy task as I can attest.

Hi Folks,

I'm just building the Mig-29 AS in Slovakian Colors out of the Limited Edition Kit by Eduard.

I've been struggeling about the color issue yesterday. In fact the front of the wings must be a lighter shade of gray than the digital blobs at the back of the wing. Academy messed it up. I try to find a color to paint the model and to use the provided Cartograf decals.

Any idea which color (Gunze or Tamiya) would fit? Did anyone build up this kit correctly - not in "invers"?

TIA

Greetings
plant

PS: Sorry for my bad english - I hope you understand what I mean...
