Can anyone help me please??
I am building airfix's 1:48 Seafire and am missing a piece. It is the wheel cover from the left side.

You can see the piece thats missing in the pic above.

I have contacted airfix but they say that the kit is currently out of production and they cannot help. Does anyone have any other ideas where i can get this piece from??

James

That is a real easy part to scratchbuild out of plastic sheet. Just trace your part on the sheet and cut out. Any interior details (if any) can be added with stretched sprue or styrene sheet.

how to scrachbuild this:

get an (empty ) plastic container of e.g. butter. This is very soft plastic, is flat and very easy to cut.

place the wheel cover on the plastic sheet, draw the contour and cut. You may have to put two such plastic parts on top of each other to make sure that you have the same thickness as the original wheel cover

good luck

If you're going the scratch building route, it is probably best to replace the cover you have at the same time, as getting a scratch built part identical to the kit part, when they sit near each other, will be tricky. New, thinner(?) doors may even be an improvement in accuracy.
