Hello everyone!

This is a Spitfire PR Mk.IG that I had started some days ago. I decided to start it, because my wife give birth to our girl, almost 2 months ago.

I read a book about Photo Reconnaissance Spitfires and I decided to built this particular aircraft.

The masked cameras are from Quicboost and the decals are from a conversion set from Pavla Models.

The pink colour is a mix of Humbrol enamel 200 gloss and some white.

interesting subject! I haven't seen the inboard roundels before. was that to throw off distance estimations of attackers?

Yes, I think so. I never thought that a plane could have ever been painted in pink!
I have read that pink colour was a very good camouflage during dusk and dawn.
So, I think that the inboard roundels were painted there for the reason you said.
I think it's a little bit difficult to be seen in that place.

The pink is so pale, it's best described as an off-white; it's only possible to see that it is pink, if the colour chip is laid on a sheet of white paper.

I didn't paint it off-white. The colour is a mix of pink and white. I made a light pink colour. The instruction of the convertion set, as well as the book that I had read, show a light pink colour. So, I decided to paint it like the instructions. Maybe there wasn't just one tone. (or is it called ''shade''? Sorry for my English)

apparently the pink PRs were designed to run low altitude photo recon below cloud cover at sunset (or sunrise). if there was no cloud cover for the (supposedly pink) clouds to conceal the recon aircraft, the mission was apparently scrubbed.

There was only one pink, in fact it was one of the ingredients for P.R.U. Mauve (another colour that some "experts" argue never existed.)

A little progress...

For the wash I used artist's oil and Vallejo model color Grey.

Some more pictures

I have used Vallejo matt varnish over the gloss coat of floor polisher and the colour has become semi-gloss. I think it is OK. Some more work and it's over.

I finaly finished the plane. The canopy is vacuformed and there was some trouble with it. That's why it looks like that! I lost the clear piece which represents the light behind the antenna and I also lost the mirror! It doesn't matter. I'll live with it!

Maybe the exhaust fumes are overdone.

re: exhaust stains. perhaps they are a little overdone, but i think the main reason you are not happy with them is that, for as dark as they are, they do not really fade out over a long stretch of airframe. they are probably too wide around the exhaust ports as well.

example of both width and length:

Vanize thanks for the correction and the photo. I should try to make it better next time.

Nickzour ευχαριστώ για τα καλά σου λόγια. Μου άρεσε πολύ σαν θέμα, μιας και έχω κόρη.
