Martyn,
Roden has some good An-12 kits, like this one

http://rodenkits.com/catalogue/1:72#042

I don't know which Antonov you wish to build

I have 2 Roden kits, very good quality.

I know A-model and Eastern Express have other versions.
Check them here:

The AN-12 could air-drop loads of up to 10 000 Kg and carry loads up to 20 000 Kg says Antonov AN-12 Cub . I'm pretty sure that a BTR could have been carried. The Roden kit is the only one available in 1/72. This is okay, because it's quite nice, and provides markings for 2 different AN-12s which served in Afghanistan.

There's a resin 1/144 kit available from Rus-Air that looks quite nice if I could get past the price...
