:-) Very nice model I'm building this, but with the warhead. Well I've been trying to build it, I have not been able to confirm the colours or camouflage pattern of the kit markings. I assume that it is inaccurate because I have a picture (low angle) of this plane under a camouflage net. The painting instructions take the shadows thrown by the net to be part of the camo pattern. The same way in which they have interpreted the ends of the boarding ladder, showing above the 190, as upward firing guns? Very bizarre.
Thanks for the link

Hi guys :-)

Here's a bit of inspiration for anybody with a steady hand and an airbrush... :-)

Looks like standard nightfighter camouflage with a darker "squiggle" pattern sprayed over it.

Looking forward to seeing your models :-)

All the best

Is that the technical term for it? LOL

:-) Yep, similar to the model in tazz's link :-)
One thing I have noticed on all models of the Mistel I have seen is that the undercarriage of the 190 is portrayed down. My model will have them up, like in the pic I posted. I get the impression that the wheels were down on the training aircraft? Anyone have any ideas about this? Seems pretty logical to have the wheels up, to reduce drag :-)

Hi Tim

Yes, that is a technical term, especially when the TV's on and I'm distracted by the sight of Alyssa Milano (un)dressed as a mermaid in Charmed! :-) :-) Sad... or what?...

Needless to say, I meant "darker"... :-)

All the best

Say no more. I wouldn't even be able to type faced with that kind of distraction. I salute you for your fortitude, sir. You are a better man than me.

Hi there

....putting all thoughts of Alyssa Milano to one side... (that make-up must have been Hell to apply... )... where were we?

Oh yes! Mistels! :-)

A quick trawl through my books hasn't found any pics of Fw190s, but I don't see why things should be any different for Bf109s...

This first pics shows a training Mistel with the fighter's gear raised:

while this one shows a group of operational Mistels in both conditions...

I've no idea why sometimes the fighters' undercarriages should be up or down... unless it was a systems test... Presumably, the fighter was hoisted onto the Ju88 with a crane (now THERE'S a diorama!! :-)) and then the undercarriage raised ready for flight...

I'll keep looking for some more pics of Fw190s

All the best

Rowan
