Hi Guys,
I'm building A P-40 (the 3rd Gloria Lyons) for the P-40 Campaign.
However I'm wondering on the best match in Tamiya spray cans for the Olive Drab.(Fs. 34086/34087 - US Olive Drab 41)
I know Tamiya do an OD but my feeling is that is a little dark, perhaps I could use one of the following
AS17 Dark Green (IJA) or
AS14 Olive Green or
AS9 Dark Green
I've posted this in the Kiwi Korner and Kiwi modeller sites(possible overkill)

Comments??

Cheers

Chris,

US supplied aircraft to Allied forces were finished in US factory schemes using US paint stocks, with using the Tamiya spray can for your P 40 build.

Tamiya AS-6 is the closest you could get for the upper surface, where as the AS-17 would be to blacker a green, AS-14 would be to light colour {as this colour was developed for the 32 scale F 4e Phanton kit in the SEA scheme} and AS-9 is the RAF Dark Green and it would be to dark in colour.

TS-5 in the Tamiya spray maybe a better option as being close to the Olive Drab for the P 40 {though this is a colour they recommend for their US Army Armour kits}.

I know that Model Master did the Olive Drab in a spray can {but I'm not sure if it is still part of their paint range), have you looked at the Gunze Sangyo spray can range for the Olive Drab ?.

Hope this helps.

Cheers & thanks Rob.
Sorry for taking so long to log a thank you.
I'll try them both a little mix and match.
