Let's just say one were to come out. Which would be preferable, Gen I, II, or III?

It's a 6000 gallon tanker that can fuel aircraft at the rate of 600 gallons per minute.

If you want to see it, type "R-11" in the Google search bar. It will fill in "Refueler" as the very first choice.

I've never built a vehicle in 1/48 scale. I've considered it, though, for an airfield diorama. Unfortunately, I do mostly modern stuff and there aren't many modern 1/48 scale vehicle kits suitable for such a scene. This big truck would be ideal, though.
I wonder how widely it's been used? I don't know about generations. If a 1/48 kit was ever produced, I'd prefer to see the one that was most commonly seen on military bases around the world.

The Generation I, with a cab by Osh Kosh, would be ideal then. It was used in the Gulf War, and is still in use today. In fact, at one base I know of all three generations are in use, and sit parked side by side. Besides, the Generation I is the most military looking of them all.

I would love to see a 1/48 Generation 1 R-11 refueler in both 1/48 (my preferred scale) and 1/72 scales.

I just received six of the Gen III models from Kinetic, so I'll assume they've been released. Unfortunaely I am not home presently, so my daughter just emailed me photos of the box. I'll be able to review one soon, but I'm fairly certain it'll be accurate as I took at least 100 different measurements for it.

I'll look forward to that. I probably won't get to it before yours arrives.
The wife did open it for me though and reports it is dark green plastic, which may be quite vexing to certain Missing-
Lynx members. (I would have expected dark blue but don't care as that's what they make paint for) She says detail appears adequate for the scale, and after I inquired about the wheels, she said they are plastic in two halves, rather than black rubber of vinyl. That's about all I can glean without getting to fondle one of kits' contents myself. I attempted to get information on the engine, whether it has the bottom portion or not, but I could tell that by then her patience was wearing thin. Payback for having to site through three Twilight movies back to back.
