I know this is a little early to show pics of a model, but I need to get some “good vibrations” going. This is probably the most ambitious project I’ve ever tackled. Those of you, who recognize the parts, probably know, or can guess, what I’m going for. Those who don’t, well hopefully the story will unfold as I make progress. So far I’ve managed to involve 3 kits and evolve the base kit into more parts than it came with. I feel like the man who just jumped off a bridge, the thought hits him “should I have jumped?”, well the dio will be a Disaster one way or another at my own hands. Sorry for the waste of good space, but I had to get it off my chest.

Good luck chuck, I like it already. Is that going to be a British airbourne glider or an American with the jeep in it. :-)

Jim - thanks for the encourgement and thanks for getting the point.
Don - It's the American Waco CG-4A (same as Hadrian) it will have US Markings, the Jeep will be mostly in it.

Hi Chuck :-)
This looks exciting! I guess from your hints, the Waco will end up looking rather bent...
I've had a diorama in mind for ages, based on some photos of wrecks found in Germany at the end of WW2. So far I've never plucked up the courage to start it, because it could end up a costly mess... :-)
I'm looking forward to watching your progress on this build :-)
All the best
Rowan

csch - If you mean will it have "Invasions Strips", yes it will be stripped.
Operation Neptune (D-Day) wasn't the only time they had strips according to my research.
Operation Husky (Sicily) was the only time, I couldn't find at least some with Invasion Strips.
Seems the stripping was non-uniform as it varied from glider to glider some having full strips as mine will others have just undersurface stripping. I guess the crews thought it best to have some kind of marking as they few from rear areas often over forward positions at low altitude and at a max of 150 mph (max tow speed).
other operations where Wacos were used along with Horsas:
Op. Dragaon (Southern France), Op. Repulse (Bastogne), and Op. Varsity (Invasion of Germany proper) Oh and of course Market Garden.

Whats Up Chuck? #:-)
Sorry man, I had to.
Hey, that glider is lookin pretty good so far! Put it in a dio and everything will blend right in, you won't be able to tell anything is wrong.
Trust me,
~Chip :-)

Chuck, IIRC the navy shot down more than a few friendlies during Operation Husky. I think that is what prompted the stripes. I think your project will turn out great. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, so to speak. When I saw the title of your topic I thought you were talking about this...

Shawn - I'm just hoping to do the model justice. But that's what I figured "nothing ventured nothing gained", wanted to challenge myself, and I'm just not satisfied building just a plane, tank, or ship anymore. Everything is practice for the next one I guess.
As for your picture that's my son's problem he lives in North Carolina.
