This is probably opening another can of worms, but I can't think of anywhere better to ask!

The Histoire & Collections book on the Fw 190 shows an A-7 in the markings of Otto Kittle on p.34. It's marked with what look to be farily typical JG54 markings with a yellow 1 and a two tone green scheme. I understand the two greens were a Green Hearts specialty, but don't know what greens they used. Can anyone give me any hints as to what RLM numbers they may have been?

Thanks!

Michael

Hi Michael,

I also assume this is a rather picky&tricky question!

As far as i can tell, this greens are not always the same hues used. Some sources state the use of captured russian paints, but seems a bit far fetched that such thing happend throughout the 41-45 period. It should have been a huge stock, something I find hard to believe.
Now using RLM and other german paint stocks, other than aircraft purposed, makes more sense, coupling with local mixes of hues, like mixing 02 with 71 or 80.
Of course other sources may point another hints...
This is why i avoid those lovely JG 54 FW's

Cheers
