Tim hatton takes a look at the1/72 Caudron C.635 Simoun released by Heller. Designed for touring, it was one of the fastest aircraft in it''s class. Not surprisingly it was the aircraft of choice for many pilots wanting to fly long distance races and set record making long range flights. The military also saw the value of the Simoun and it went on to serve with the French, American, Israeli Air Forces as well as the RAF and the Luftwaffe.

Hi Tim,
..thanks for the heads-up on another nice Heller re-release. (The SAAB J21 is about to land on the work bench).
The Simoun was covered in-depth in a three part feature in 'Avions' magazine a while back so plenty of nice reference easily available. Pity that there is no military (camouflaged) example on the decal sheet ...

Hi guys,
I'm Chris "Flying Frog", from FFSMC Productions, the designer of the decals sheet and of the profiles.
I just wanted to make a correction : I designed the decals and prepared them for the printing, but I'm not the printer. The decals are printed in Italy at a very good printer.
For the military planes, one is included in the sheet. It is not a camo plane, but the decals are 100% accurate because I was enough lucky to draw with original photos of the real airplane on my desk.
Why I didn"t draw another possibility ? Well, take a look closely to the decals and you will see all the colors are authentic. If a real color is a "XXX pantone", the drawing in the decal is also "XXX Pantone". If there are 2 different reds, in the decals there are 2 different reds... A lot of decals printers would choose to cancel the differences and to print the 2 different reds as the same one... We didn't.
Each color is a layer to print, and each layer has a cost. More there are layers, more the final price of the sheet is high... and we have some layers used for very, very small drawings. I choosed with Heller to make less possibilities of airplanes, but to make them very accurate.
Sorry for my very bad English guys, I'm at the hospital during some says and it is not the best place for me to think in English...
Cheers
Chris

Hi Tim,
Another good review! What a fine lil' aeroplane. I appreciate bringing to light something other than Mustangs, Messerschmitts and Spitfires (oh my! ). Thanks for the review.
