I was browsing a Czech A/C modeling site and came upon this build of a KI-45 Nick in 1/48 scale.
http://www.modelforum.cz/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=55654
In particular, I wonder what the builder used to mask off the camo pattern as it seems as though it would be a useful tool to have in one's arsenal. Any clues on what the substance is? Photo: http://www.modelforum.cz/download/file.php?id=591973&sid=c4ea0e975b638ad015e9fb59aab1a756&mode=view
Any help in identifying the mystery mask would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if that's ducseal, chewing gum, or some other product. The fact is, common tac for hanging posters on the wall achieves the same effect. Get it at your local the discount store.

Hi Bill,
Mtnflyer gives good guidance. In the states we have some tacky gummy putty stuff used to hang posters, etc. . One brand is Blu-Tack® . Elmers makes it called Elmer's Tack, and there are many others. I have even used Play Doh -- anything hat is stretchy, can be rolled or smushed, and is tacky without leaving a residue.

Hi Mr. Bill
That stuff is just "blue tack". It can also be found as "tacky wax". Here in Greece, a German company named UHU, sells a great product of it named "patafix".
Cheers Nick

It is either Blu-Tack or UHU Patafix (white in color). Patafix has a stronger adhesive and may lift the paint - make some tests.

Yep, looks like white sticky tac to me too. I've used that stuff from Pritt and been happy with the results.
From what I've read, regular blu-tac can stick down more heftly and could also be prone to leaving greasy stains.
