I've generally hesitated to use my Dremel tools on models. Always afraid I'm going to melt plastic rather the remove it. What's everyone else's experience?

I had to go out and buy a dimmer switch before I could feel safe about not melting things. Even so, it's still touch and go.

I have several Dremels. All variable speeds. Try working on scrap plastic to get the hang of its use. You will be impressed by its usefulness.

I have a non-Dremmel motor tool. It's variable speed with a minimum of 10K RPM and I slightly melted an F/A-18 canopy polishing it at th lowest speed. I am looking at getting a Dremmel with a 5000 minimum.
If you get one let us know how it goes!
