would you paint the body of the SR-71 Blackbird even though it is a black mold already

Nick, by all means paint her. Work all the seams and things out. You could go two ways, flat black or gloss. If you use gloss you can dull coat it after you decal it. The gloss would be a good base for laying declas. Good luck .

I am with Maverick, I would go with the gloss black, decal, then dullcote!
Thats what I did with the bottom of my HE-219 and then did the decals, and then dullcoted.
Worked great!
And yes, always paint it, no matter if it is molded in black.

ALWAYS paint every spot of plastic that will or may possiblybe seen. Unpainted plastic looks like...unpainted plastic.
