Hi guys .. well this is my first time posting a bulid topic so please bear with me haha . Iv been modeling for some time now but i have never shared my work on a site before so i thought id try it here as everyone seems very nice and helpful....
Ok so down to the build its a 1/48 Tamiya P-51 C in RAF markings iv built it out of the box with only the addition of a pilot . Iv built it with the gear up so it can hang in my hobby room and also i dont have any space left on the shelves ..
The cockpit interior was fairly easy to do i just picked out the details and added some switches ect

The rest of the model went together very nicely i separated the elevators and ailerons and then reattached them

I drilled out the exhaust stacks to add a bit of realism

After everything was dry i started to do a bit of pre shading i like to do this with an artists pencil i used a 4B and went around all the panel lines the effect is quite good and shows up nicely after painting

I added the cockpit glass and masked off the cockpit with some tissue and used Maskol for the glass .. i wanted to have the canopy open so i took some time to carefully separate it from the windscreen and set it aside for later

The Mustang then had a nice coat of Humbrols medium grey and was left over night to dry

I used paper masks held with blue tac to set the camo scheme out on the model and then laid down a good covering of Humbrol dark green. After it was all dry i then masked off the nose area and sprayed it white the exhaust stacks were added and the masking removed

The top half of the model was then masked off and the underside was painted with Humbrol light grey .After all was dry it was time for some decals .. the decals were nice to use and easy handle altho i must stay they did need a few coats of mircosol to finally set and conform to all the nooks and crannies

the only let down with the decals was the yellow strip for the leading edge of the wings it just did not want to curve round so i decided to mask and paint it on instead

The rest of the decals were finished off and the pilot was placed inside then the canopy was added and glued on in the open position after a bit of weathering and staining the model was finished

Iv very please with how it has turned out and it looks great hanging next to my B-17 in my hobby room i hope you guys like it too

Thanks for looking and watch out for my next build of Revells A-26 Invader i shall be posting the build pics on the site

Thanks again

Dave

Great build! Is the B-17 also RAF? That would look really cool, bomber and escort together!

Hi Robby .. sadly not no its actually Revell,s 1/48 Memphis Belle iv had it for a long time and it could do with a bit of an overhaul to be honest but it still looks cool with the Mustang escorting it ...thanks for the comment
