Just started the Tamiya Meteor F.3 in 1/48 and they provide a large belly drop tank with it.

However, I now read in one review that this feature didn't appear until the F.4. But who's right - Tamiya San or the author of that review (who quotes no other sources himself)? Because I can't find confirmation one way or the other.

So the question of the day is - can anyone here shed any light? Cheers!

Warpaint Series No. 22 shows a profile of Meteor III EE 239 wearing a belly tank in June of 1945. This aircraft had Derwent engines with the short tailpipes, which Tamiya provides. I don't think that any of the Welland engined Meteors had the tank.

I just remembered to look in my copy of Sixty Years and found a picture of F.3 EE311 on page 223 which clearly shows the tank looking a little worse for wear after an encounter with the Northern Ontario landscape in 1946.
