Michal,
Fascinating update......really spiced up my morning coffee as I browsed through this mornings' updates on the site. As an aside, do you happen to know of any book(s) on this great aviator? Most impressive that he defied Goring, still made it to service in WWII, and survived duty on in the Stuka Squadrons.
Cheers,
Lance

Here is a thumbnail view of Vzfw Willy Gabriel's service.
He transferred to Jasta 11 from Shutz Staffel 15 on 17 May 1918.
On 20 July 1918 he was on Leave
He returned from leave on 20 Aug 1918.
Due to a direct conflict with Oblt. H. Göring he was posted out on 22 Aug. 1918 to AFP 2

Thanks Michal; interesting character for sure. Given Goring's strange personality Gabriel was either very brave or naive to challenge him so directly.

It's doubtful that Gabriel in 1918 could forsee that 20 years later Goring will be Reichsmarschall... Anyway it's still very interesting man. Beside, how many people can design and build an airworthy airplane eing just 18yo? I wonder where in which StG he fought during ww2 as he was about 50yo at the outbrake of war.

Michal,
Having just read and done a Review on Kilduff's book on Herman Goring I beleive that Goring was as eccentric in his early years as he was later as the Reichmarschall; he ruled with an iron fist as the Commander of JG1; it would take a very brave man to challenge him as did Gabriel. He was not the only pilot summarily transferred, a group that included one whose only crime was being Jewish. Goring was always a bit of a bully and tyrant; IMHO he only "matured" in that role when his power reached it's heights!
Lots of interesting things to ponder in the history of Air Warfare for sure!
Cheers,
Lance

Thanks for the build images. Good stuff! Looking at the kit it sort of reminds me of the V.29(?) high wing parasol using the V.11 fuselage. But in a 2 seater version.

Some sources says that Gabriel designed P.VII on the model of Fokker D.VII, especially the fuselage...
