I'd like to build a B-25J from Corsica, based on the novel Catch 22, with emphasis on the interior and crew positions. What I really can't discern is what they actually wore in the air? Most photos show them standing on the ground alongside their planes or around camp. I assume it was cold, although it is the Mediterranean and the plane is closed (isn't it?). They kept their parachutes on, right? What flak protection did they wear in late 1944/ early 1945? The B-25 didn't require oxygen masks, right? Did the pilot wear a flight helmet or just his cap? Lots of little details. Am I in over my head?
Thanks in advance!
