Looking to build a "short tail" merlin engine version. Does the new Hobbycraft kit allow for a short tail build?
thanks

First, I wouldn't call it "new". it s pretty old, being a reboxing of the old AMT/ERTL kit.
and no, the hobbycraft P-40F/L is the long tail version only.
you'll have to do some kitbashing or find a conversion kit if you want a short tail P-40F.
the easiest and best route might be to get the resin P-40 Merlin nose (which is supposedly more accurate than the AMT?ERTL?Hobbycraft nose anyway, tho i am not sure about that) and put it on the Hasegawa P-40E - that's the way i intend to go If i ever do a short tail F.

Thanks. Hmmm, looked at the sprue, and it looked as if the tail section would work for the short tailed version. Looks like one would have to sand off the tailplane root and use the one further back on vertical tail, probably have to cut the fuselage also.
Hoping the newer hobbycraft boxing would give instructions for that.
