Hello Everyone,
I'm in need of some help with what model of spitfire was defending darwin.
And if anyone has pictures of any of the spitfires.
Would appreciate the help.

Hi Az.

I believe that we had Tropicalised Vc's in Darwin.

There are a couple of books around on the subject. I picked up (but didn't buy yet) a book by Anthony Cooper called "Darwin Spitfires" at an ABC shop recently, it has heaps of detail in it. There's another called "Spitfires over Darwin" by Jim Grant that is still around as well.

A quick Google will find info for you as well.

Darwin Spitfires

Spitfire Association of Australia

P.S. My scanner is on the blink at the moment, I will scan the Zero colour schemes for you and email ASAP mate, promise!

Cheers, D

The Spitfire's used to defend Darwin are Vc's though a sole (A58-163) Vb was on charge and did survive the war years.
The upper camo is RAF Dark Earth / Folliage Green over RAF Azure Blue or RAAF Sky Blue.

Hope this helps a litle
