I have one of these on the way so that I can produce masks for it. I can't say which scheme it will be but I will post when I have them ready.

Does anyone else think that the canopy looks a bit wrong

Must still be trying to get a Liberator to stay the same width for longer than a couple of days

The kit arrived today, it does look very good. The scheme that I will be doing is very interesting, as is the kit

You plan to do the experimental Barclay scheme?

The canopy doesn't just look wrong, it is... The pilot's sliding frame portion is not proportionately high enough at the rear, flubbing the whole outline...

Still a crisper-looking and probably fitting kit, so a case for using the Monogram's amazingly neat clear parts, or the Falcon/Squadron vac-form equivalent...

A very simple question for you.

Does this look like a TBD Devastator or not?

Flubbed... Love that word! I guess, because this year's Christmas season flubbed my outline pretty good.
I have screened a lot of reviews available on the Monogram TBD and there is none in any praise of the canopy. On the contrary: I can't find a single build finished to a good modelling standard that has made use of the Monogram canopy. All of them seem to use the Squadron canopy.... but hey, they could all be wrong, couldn't they?
I can't wait to get my hands on a Monogram kit to compare it to the GWH kit, they should become available for reasonable prices pretty soon.

Hi there

I've had a chance to tinker with the kit more over the last few days, and I've spotted one slip that I didn't notice at first - the designers have presumably misinterpreted the dark-painted step-ins on early machines and represented them as open holes right through the fuselage sides. They'll be simple enough to correct, but I'll make a note in the review.

Also very interesting. The problem is there is no kit of the Navy version on the shelves at the moment, apart from the ancient Tamiya or Classic Airframes´s kit. I have the Tamiya
kit here and its just lovely, even for today´s standards.

Well, Holdfast (Mal Mayfield) an me wasn´t lazy meanwhile. Especially Mal did a tremendous job on the new stencil set
we offer. The product is finished and ready for production.
Currently we work on the manual and try to make the instructions as easy to use and convincing as the whole stencil set.
It would not have been possible to develop the stencils in such a fast manner without the friendly, selfless and most appreciated help of our friend James Hatch, editor of "Scale Plastic & Rail". Yes Uschi insisted that I was tied to my PC to get the masks done, 2 days with minimal breaks and no sleep Interestingly the experience of doing these masks has lead me to re-think doing camo masks for other aircraft, guess what I'm working on now? will it be fatally flawed! Only time will tell
