I am building a Classic Airframes 1/48 Boeing P-12e pursuit and was wondering if the 2x machine guns have blast tubes?
My squadron reference does not have a photo or drawing where I can see one way or another, either does the web; as far as I can see...
I should think it has, otherwise, the machine guns would have to fire through the cylinder heads AND the prop..
If anyone can help, I would appreciate it!
thanks
Mike

Hi MIke:
I have the Hasegawa kit in 1/32 and based on that model, there are no blast tubes. I also have the F4B-4, basically the same a/c and it doesn't have blast tubes. Apparently the guns were lined up to fire between the cylinder heads like on the P-26.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck
Mark

Thanks.
But the P-26 had blast tubes. The guns were on the cockpit floor and tubes were attached to the muzzles and protruded beyond the cylinder heads.
I would think it be dangerous while firing to have the guns fire between the cylinder heads....but I have seen no blast tubes at all.....
