Greetings everyone,

Here is my rendition of Academy's Spitfire Mk. XIVc in 1/48 scale. It was an opportunity to try out a few new techniques and add a Spitfire to my WWII collection. All the markings are painted and the cockpit door is scratch built (I lost the original to the "carpet monster").

Disclaimer - the aircraft serial number is borrowed from a different aircraft and was never worn by this Mk. XIVc. Yes, I managed to lose this, too. Gaa...

Invasion stripe application...the hard way!

Happy Modeling!

Gorgeous! Your invasion stripes turned out superbly. The interior looks great, that flap on the Spitfire really necessitates PE.

But no WWII collection is complete without a Battle of Britain era Spit! Heresy!

Cheers, Richard.

I agree with your assessment of a proper WWII collection. The 5-bladed, Griffon powered Spitfire is one of my favorite versions of R.J. Mitchell's masterpiece. Hmmm... I believe he needs a drinking buddy - perhaps a Mk 1 in North African markings..

Warm regards from Texas,
Mark

You'll have to stick to a Vb or Vc, since they were the first desert arrivals; no Mk.I (or II) ever went to the Mediterranean, sorry.

Hi Edgar,

Thank you for the clarification. There is nothing more humbling than placing one's glaring ignorance on display for all to see (okay, perhaps landing with your gear firmly in their wells ranks up there as well).

Have a great weekend,
Mark
