One example of this rare kit is now on Ebay, for a starting price of 180 Euros, which made me look into it...

As usual, the very first thing I looked at was the outline accuracy of the vacuform canopy, with a result that is informative... The change in angle probably exaggerate some issues, but the differences are so large they can take much more exaggerations...

This is exactly the kind of subject we would see more of if manufacturers displayed any imagination... That and a 1/48th Coronado (a bit farfetched that one), or far better yet, a 1/48th C-46, DC-4/C-54 or Il-4...
Maybe the apparent success of the Revell PV-1 will wake up some of the manufacturers before their coma becomes eternal... The way things are going I don't expect any of the perfectly sensible last three types above in that scale in the next forty years though... I think you can safely start scratchbuilding them...
