Hi Dave

No rush... school's got to be the priority! ... Hope all's going well! :-)

Shame to get 2 Albatros models in row, but here goes:

Sorry they're old pics, let us know you want fresh ones.

Hi again,

I'm really only posting to get this thread back to the top of the pile again! , so it doesn't get buried... it really should be "sticky" for the AoA capaign...

I'm sure more people finished Age of Aces... so join the party and get your pics posted :-)

While I'm here...did anyone build an Allied a/c? I hoped to (but soon gave up due to lack of time)... maybe this should be re-christened the Maltese Cross Campaign?...

All the best

Hello guys !
Me too, I was hoping to build an allied plane... but I didn't have the time. I'm building it slowly now ! It's a nieuport 17bis. The model is short run so it needs more work and time to complete...

Hey Guys:
I too was just passing by and had to comment on the great work on builds that are posted. I am especially impressed with the natural wood finish you guys put on the planes. Very Very convincing and impressive. Great work guys these are some planes you all can be proud of .

i was building a D.H.2 as well as the albatros, but the tros kind of surged ahead ( the biggest job on that will be rigging) ive just started working on it this week again, but seem to spend a lot of time looking at it and thinking about the order of rigging so,s not to interfere with decals or later construction, although this kit has the best diagrams for wires its still taking some headscatching to push it along

Hi again

I'm looking forward to seeing the Nieuport 17 and DH2! Post some pics when you can.

My aborted Allied model was also a Nieuport 17 - I'm afraid it's firmly on the back burner now (pressure of other campaigns ), but I hope to get back to it one day...

All the best

Beware Vlady ! if you start building WWI planes, you won't be able to stop !
They just look right : bumps and curves, metal wood and canvas, "unsleek" and slow...

Hi there

Vlady, I know what you mean... bi-planes just look great (esp. when guys like almonkey and penpen build them :-) lovely work...)!!

Of course, bi-planes don't just mean WW1... I was looking at my "Shelf of Shame" (unfinished and half-forgotten models ) and I spotted a Spanish Civil War Polikapov I-15, which doesn't look too bad... I can't remember why I gave up!

I'll make an effort to finish her and post some pics soon. :-)

All the best

as far as building bi-planes goes vlady, just adding a little rigging makes a world of difference.my recommended order of rigged planes is this, fokker Dvii, just needs control lines to elevators, fokker triplane, cabane struts, wheels, ailerons and elevators, albatros, fusalage to struts, tail control, wheels.try them in this order, each one builds up rigging skills ( and making a/m etched brass cockpit interiors!). i have seven ww1 aircraft on display in the front room that go from my early (well, a year and a half ago) attempts, to the albatros seen here, and get a lot of comments from friends and family how smart they look. a word of warning they are very, very addictive!! ive built almost nothing else for the last 2 years!
