Does anyone know what you can thin down Mr Surfacer 500 with?

Lacquer thinner will do the trick ! It's , lacquered base so enamel thinner will yield poor results . I use Lacquer thinner from Canadian Tire paint section .

I use laquer thinner to thin it also. Additionally I use Mr. Retarder with Mr. Surfacer to keep it from drying too fast, especially necessary when airbrushing 1000 or 1200.

Once it's cured you thin it down with a sanding stick

I usually use Gunze thinner and have had no problems.
