Thought I would query about the colors of the Avro Vulcan bomber. I have had for 20 years the MPC kit (72 scale) and wanted to confirm the colors needed before I break open the package with the model.

I would like to build the model as it appeared during the "Black Buck" missions to the Falkland islands. I'm sure someone out there will be able to help. Thanks in advance. Russell

Looks like, with further research, that the underside of the Vulcan was Dark Sea Grey. The upper surfaces were Medium Sea Grey with Dark Green? Does this sound right? Thanks, Russell

Yes. By that stage of their lives the upper surface colours were looking very faded.

There's an article in this months Flypast which shows the Vulcans leaving Waddington for Assension Island ( Black Buck) and the undersides had been freshly painted in a dark grey.
I haven't got the magazine with me to confirm but somebody will be able to reference it for you.
It also shows that some of the insignia/crests had been removed.

Hope this helps,

Nige
