Special Hobby has produced two 1/48 kits of the Airspeed Oxford. Can anyone tell me if either of these kits includes parts to enable a turretless version to be built? Thanks!

Hi there

Both kits do - in fact only the RAF version has markings for an aircraft with a turret fitted.

I've been planning a review of my kit for months, but it's been continually sidelined by samples coming in.

All the best

I just had a peek, it looks quite a nice kit, colourful too. Reminiscing about the old frog or Airfix kit way back in 19XX I loved that, yellow plastic and all.

Makes me very tempted to step out the WWI era for a few weeks.

*edit* Damn Hannants have them in stock too...............so tempting

I've just made a comparison to photos here, and despite the promising appearance of the kit, it totally fails to capture many of the of the most distinctive features, especially the peculiar canopy "roof" that is very deep and transparent:

This is the most recognizable feature of the entire aircraft, and it is largely ignored... Did these guys give this work to the team reserved for AZ?

Notice too the oh-so endearing turret is thrown to the dogs as well, and is about the 2/3 the size it should be... Special Hobby is really rapidly gaining AZ status in my book...

I thought one company like that was scary enough...
