I'm jealous of your find
I was at an antique store and found that same kit and they wanted $40 for it.
I almost bought it but then I would have gone crazy trying to decide if I wanted to really build it or not.
Is it an antique?? Is it a model kit?? Is it an antique?
I can't give you any help on how the kit is for building, but for $7 you got a great kit. After you build the kit ALWAYS keep the box. If you don't want it for yourself there are always collectors for even old empty model kits like that.

Good modeling and send pictures as you build it I am really curious as to how it turns out.

FSM had an article on this kit recently...

I'll look and see what issue- it CAN be a great kit! Beside the F4U is such a great subject.

Hopefully I'll have achance to look tomorrow for the article.

namshow, thanks for reposting this here.

FSM did have an article on it several months ago. The bird was built by Scott Murphy. Here's the link to the Corsair on his website:

http://members.tripod.com/scottsmodels/f4u-1d_corsair.htm-there are some pics missing but good inspiration none-the-less.

thenamshow - Built mine some time ago but don't remember any major problems. I replaced the decals as I'm sure you'll want to do, due to the age of the kit. Really sturdy model when done. You got it for a great price have fun. Oh, the engine makes for great detailing possiblities because of the size and removable cowl. If I remeber correctly you can hinge the wings so they can fold and unfold, this part is a little weak, but makes for a great option.
