Hi all,
This is my first model after a couple years away from the hobby. It's Minicraft's 1/48 Super Cub kit.
As any of you who have built it know, it's an okay kit, but not awesome. The clear parts in particular were very foggy and scratched and I didn't know how to fix that. None of the parts fit very well together, either.
But I think it came out pretty well overall. I masked and painted the paint scheme by hand since I didn't like or trust the decals in the kit. The registration numbers on the wings came from Hobbycraft's 1/48 J-3 Cub kit. I also modified the "tail feathers" to make it look more like a real plane would look at rest and give it more visual interest.
Please let me know what you think. I'm open to any constructive criticism.

Looks great .if they were surface scratches you could have sanded all the way up to 2000 grit and then dipped in future and they would have came out clear.

Hi Sam! Great looking model there! I too enjoy the occasional civilian aircraft. Thought I would post a photo of my Arii 1/72 scale Bonanza for you to see. Again, good job. Russell

Justin, thanks for the tip. I'll have to keep that in mind next time I work on a kit like this.
Thanks, Russell. That's a nice model of a beautiful plane. And it's 1/72?!? Wow.
Thanks, Jonathan! They were a lot of work. The hardest part wasn't making them straight, but making them consistent on both sides of the plane.
I learned a lot on this build, mostly about my own perceived limitations as a modeler. I didn't think I could pull it off, but (thankfully) was able to do it. It was worth it.

Hi Samuel,
Great job!
Do you know if they still have the Super Cub at MWO?

Sorry Fred. Been away from the hobby and the forums for a couple months so I missed this.....
I don't get down to MWO much, so I'm not sure. I've stuck with the J3s at 40I, but I'd love to try a Super someday. Sounds like a fun plane.
