This is the excellent reboxed Academy F86F Block 30 by AFV. Sabres had a long and distinguished service with the Republic of China Airforce. To counter the threats of Mainland China, in 1953, Taiwan started to equip its fighter squadrons with Sabres, it reaches its peak in 1958, whilst the F86F of the Tainan fighter Squadron shot down 11 Mig-17 over the strait, and achieved the world first AAM kill.
This model is of the Tainan Squad, and later on became the Thundertiger air-demo team of the ROCAF. Which I saw the actual plane park in the airforce academy whilst I was a kid.

Hi Dave,
Very nice! A good looking plane and a great looking model. Congrats!
After seeing you tackle everything else, I'm still waiting to see you do a figure. Or did I miss it? You somehow manage to build so many models so fast that I can't keep track of them all .

Lord Lens:
Impressive. Another UOM masterpiece.
The canopy is crystal clear, the decals appear snuggled down and free of bubbles, the finish looks like it must have been tough to do, and the weathering streaks have an effective yet petite look to them (i.e. not overdone).
This looks like it was a challenging build Dave, which you have pulled off extremely well. Congrats.
How about putting out a "group pic" of this Sabre, Da Phantom Menace, and "Da Raider" out here for us all to enjoy.

Lens Jr.

looks good Dave, don't have any real suggestions to make. All around good job, even if it is a wingy thingy. Glad to see the canopy came out nicely. Now get back to doing armor models #:-)
I agree.

Lord Dave.... WOW! Those planes look sharp. I would offer some constructive criticism, but I can't see anything that needs fixing.... GREAT job! I don't know much about planes, but those look super.

hehe, thanks Uday. I too think the plane is a bit too weathered. WIll do better when I attempt it on my F105.
The reason I got the color right, is because I had took your advise, and got my self some Al-Allclad-Jihad Paints, they are awesome.
PS. Note to Moderator and other members, I am totally cool with Uday's post, it's neat. So please do not ridicule him. Thanks.

That is one sweet fighter jet.
I think it looks excellent, even though weathered it still looks sleek and clean.
Well done

Awesome work Dave!! I don't think I can find anything wrong with it.. of course, with me being new at this.. everything looks better than what I think I could do. But I tell you, its a nice clean build, very sharp.. metal looks metal.. decals look sharp.. and placed precisely. Makes me want to stop working on my Panther and start up on my BF109! Beautifully done Dave.

Lord Dave: excellent job as per usual. The bare metal finish looks spot on and it is very hard to get that to look right. What did u use? Did you have a close up of the cockpit?? I really like the 3 ac lined up, you did a bang up job on 3 different era's of ac. I still can't believe you washed the phantom under the tap though!

Hi there Dave
She's looking good! :-) Ohh I love the Sabre!... but I still might add a little panel washing...
A couple of posts pick out the decal carrier film. I don't think it's silvering... it's just that decals stand out as a different "texture" against the metallic finish.
I guess the only real answer is to trim the decals very carefully...
Lovely job and all the best
Rowan

Dave, buddy, pal, fellow swine- Again I am amazed by your attention to detail and clean builds... Now, all you have to do is take that same kit, add some landing gear damage and some MUD to represent a forced landing in a field somewhere in Korea...
Oh, yeah... Don't forget to have the pilot aiming his SV at some unseen enemy soldier... #:-)
now, with all that shine, all you have to do is get together with TW and put some NASCAR decals on it, and it would look like JG's #24... #:-)
