Hi all
I'm taking a break from building my K5 and building a Revell Wllington MK XIV.While I've been perusing the net I came across a site where it mentioned the MK XIV being fitted with rockets under the wing, but so far i have been unable to confirm this. Can anyone either confirm this or point me in the direction of a website that does?
TIA
Pete

Could they have been flares? I am not sure why they would put rockets under the wings. Strange.

What brand of kit are you building?

Hi Pete

I've found a reference that says the Mk XIV was equiped with ASV. III in a chin radome, a Leigh light in the bomb bay and... wing rocket-rails :-)

This was a Coastal Command variant and was used (like the Liberator) to attack U-Boats with rockets.

I haven't found any pics yet of the installation, but I'll post any that I come across.

All the best

Rowan

Rockets are correct.

As already suggested the GR XIV (Type 455) was a Coastal Command version with ASV MkIII in a chin radome. The front turret was removed though the upper ('glass) nose profile remained much the same. A retractable Leigh Light was installed aft of the bomb bay. Four rocket rails were mounted under each wing.

303 examples were built at Blackpool and 538 at Chester!

Regards Dave

Hi again

I found a picture of the beastie! Dave's quite right (and my ref. wrong ) - the Leigh light is clearly behind the bomb-bay.

Hope this helps

Thank you gentlemen for your replies, they are much appreciated. Now all i need to do is find the rocket rails i had left over from another kit.
