Canvas Austringers,

I have inflicted a terrible pilot error on my Pfalz D.VII!

After successfully moving my wonderful 1/72 plow horse across country twice without damage, I freed it from its stable for display over the past 2 years. Now I have to move again; while packing it up the same way, I vacuumed the air out of its plastic bag too hard and crushed the wing.

Tonight I tried to straighten the struts. Both of the rear struts broke off and the front attachment point separated. It is now reattached but my attempts to glue the wayward V back has been, well, So I'm letting the unbroken but weakened front part set up and tomorrow I'll try to attach the loose V.

You may notice that three of 4 inner struts of each N strut is broken.

Woe!

Sorry to hear about the damage. But. . .at least you won't have to shoot it.

A horrible view!

Hope your Pfalz will recover... all the best!

Hi Crew,

Thanks for the concerns. Pfalz is slowly on the mend. Photos soon.

Just plain nasty! I share your pain. Got to ask, the Vacuum thing is new to me. I just did 300+ miles to a Regional Contest (my first ever such experience) with no problems. I did the styrofoam and foam rubber with lots of wooden BBQ skewers trick.
Do you pack your models in bags and vacuum out the air??
Cheers,
Lance

Fred just throwing this out there but you could try glueing it and use metal shim clamped each side to keep it true while it sets.
