I don't remember in what post or who said it, but I remember reading someone's comment that they don't consider themselves an aircraft modelor because they usually only do a couple a year (armor is their preferance). This led me to wonder how many models do "modelors" do a year? Any what do you do with all of the ones you make. If for example I made 6 a year and wanted to display them all around the house, after a couple of years, my wife would kill me. Do you give them away, box them up again, ??

Right now, considerably less than I want to. Once I get back to my regular routine I should probably be on a pace of six subjects per year.

i think im onto my third or fourth kit this year, although one (avro 504) had so much aftermarket interior it was like two separate kits. my motto was it takes as long as it takes until i joined in a campaign,i still don,t rush things but seem to be more productive

I build as many as I can. I usually do 2 or 3 dios about 5/6 aircraft and I figure around 5/6 armor pieces along with the figures that go along with them. I'm also doing aircraft carriers now. I love this hobby

I finish about 12 projects a year, spread across the spectrum of armor, armor vignettes, aircraft and ships. While most are displayed around the house, some are given away. I recently gave a Horsa Glider to a WWII glider pilot, a Russian Missle submarine to a friend who asked me to build it for him, and a vignette featuring Tamiya’s 88mm cannon to another friend. Sometimes I can work for months, and have nothing to show for it (LOL).

Hi All
I haven't really counted. So I have to do some math, 8, 1/35" scale tanks. And 1, 1/32" Tamiya Zero. Now making a Tamiya 1/48" P47D Bubbletop. In aprox. 5-6 years back in the hobby = about an average of 2 per. year. It seems that my building is getting slower. Must be because I am trying to do the one I'm working on now, better than the last one I made. Doing more detailing, and finishing touches to each one. Now that I'm learning more.

This year (2003) I started with armor kits and built three:
Sherman M4 Early (Tamiya)
T 34/76 (Tamiya)
Jagdpanther (Italeri)
Then in June I begun with airplane kits, have built three up to now:
Ju 87 B2 Stuka (Hasegawa)
P51 D (ARII)
Spitfire Vb Trop (Tamiya)
and right now I´m working in a Me 262 A - 1a (Dragon). This one is really tricky and complicated to build, specially the fit in the fuselage belly, wings to fuselage join and nacelles to wings join. I started it three weeks ago and sitll I´m finishing the asseble and preparing for the paint job.
I think that I´ll close the year with this one.

I have dozens of projects started but try to finish one a month or a total of 12/year.
With grad programs last year and closing on and moving into a house as of Dec 1 -hopefully-
I might not make it this year.
Finished
PAH2 Italeri172 1-2-03
mpc U-2 C 1-2-03
Revell Yak38 w DML AS7 Kerry and UPK 23 gunpods 1-2-03
Bandai 1/35th EXLlabor 4-6-03
Italeri 1/72 F14 (Hase weapons and pylons) and
Apache (ootb) 4-16-03
Italeri Uh-1B 1/72 #040 7-21-2003
US Army Aviation Vo Dat 1965
ootb, vallejo silvre w tamiya clear green red lights, NICE!
Tamiya Leopard 2A5
Not counting the NBC Fuchs I mucked up with a bad pastel weathering job.
There are several more within striking distance and the motivation to work on them just as it is time to do report cards and conferences.

Well I've had a terrible track record of starting kits, but never finishing them.
Since joining Armorama in the summer, I've stuck to campaigns and group builds to get a bit of discipline back and ensure I finish stuff!
So far I've built two, and I've got 2 more that I have to finish this year.
I think if I manage 8 or so per year from now on, I'll be pretty happy... :-)
All the best
Rowan

Hmmm, I'm lucky to build a couple a year, which isn't csurprising with how busy I usually am. That being said, I don't like to rush anything as things always start to go wrong

Cokes is correct who cares who many you build yes I think I should build more when I read magazines and see articles by people turning out models moth after month but not every one has the tme to spend on modelling and I'll bet have other distractions. The main thing is as long as you enjoying doing it it doesnt matter how many you churn out even if its only one a year I think if oyu knock them out like a production line you'll soon get fed up with it and loose interest and make mistakes which will cause you to stop the kit and open another

I buld a decent amount every year just enough to keep me happy and busy but if i wanted to count i would most likly say about 7-8 every year im working on one right now but im not thinking it will be done in quite some time now.

Depends on how motivated I am. Anywhere from 4 to 12 models per year. The problem is that so far this year, I have bought 18!
