Hi,
I'd like to share my build of the PBY Catalina. A long time ago a magnificent model of Mr. Jorge Roberto Wolf inspired me to build a model that shows the most of this beautiful aircraft. What I plan to do is to strip down most of the fuselage panels to reveal a super detailed interior. This project will last for a part of my life, so please have patience to follow the build
The drawing shows which panels are going to be removed (marked blue - red panels stay as they are)
And here is the bow turret under construction:
Now it consists of over 70 pieces

Hi guys,
Thank you for your kind words. I decided to post the build here so I'll have motivation to go on with the build

Hi again,
Below you can see the bombardier/bow gunner section separated from the rest of the fuselage. I did that to allow easy access to the interior. Next you can see some panels removed and construction of some interior details. To give more detail I decided to use the same beam profiles as in the original so for example the stringers are Z beams - for the areas where the fuselage panels are intact I used beams made of 0,1 mm PVC rigid film, and for places where the panels are removed I used Z beams photoetched by a friend of mine. I have also made new external panels which are made of the same PVC film with raised rivets imitation.
Regards,
Peter Mazurek

Thank you guys I really appreciate your cheer. I don't think I am a master modeller - at least not yet. Although I won some local competitions, I can't say that my models are masterpieces...
To be honest I am looking over a master's shoulder myself. Mr. Andrzej Ziober is my tutor in this build. It was him who advised me which panels should be removed in order to show the most without ruining the wonderful curves of Catalina. We have widely discussed the sequence of build in this section and now Andrzej is motivating me to put some more effort in finishing touches of the paintwork

Excuse me, I think I'll take-up knitting now. That Lanc is truely remarkable. I'm lucky to just not get glue all over everything.

Hi,
Actually these parts were ready before I started this build thread. I have started working on this model on 04.05.2011 and stopped on 26.03.2012. So if I continue the build in this rate then completing all 6 sections of the fuselage will last for 6 years...

One of the finest scratchbuilding efforts I have ever seen.
