Has anyone successfully simulated a spinning prop in 1/72 or larger? (No bateries and motors please!) I've tried a clear plastic disk with prop etching. It looks OK on 1/350 but not too convincing in larger scales.

There's propblur photoetch, but I'm personally not conviced about the radius of the blurred edges and if you're doing more than one propeller it looks too uniform. It's quite impressive though.

One of the best spinning prop illusiuons I've seen is the plastic disk technique, using paint for the propeller blades.
Magnusf did it with a recycled Hercules.

I tried it a few times myself. Here's an example. (Too much paint on this one, but the concept is sound I think.)

Valiant Wings also offer a spinning prop solution, I've used them several times and am pleased with the effect.
Cheers
