Hi all,
I just saw a 1:48 smer sva kit for just 5 gbp, which seems a real bargain.... At least if the kit is good....
Is there someone who knows how it is?
Thank you
Ciao

thank you Stephen!
You are always 'spot on' !!!
Nevertheless, it seems an awful lot of work to be done...
what do you think of the Fly version of the plane?
ciao

Greetings Edo,
I have heard both good and not so good comments on Fly's SVA. One fellow wrote;
". . .kit from Fly the wingstruts are unusable cause they have lots of airbubbles and a piece from the trailing edge is broken off. . ."
Another wrote;
". . .one thing looks good from fly. the "W" shape struts seem to be one piece, so this would be much easier that all the separate pieces on the Spin kit. . ."

There is an Obolete Kit GB brewing on Britmodeller. This would be a good chance to build the SMER SVA as a quickly, and then build a nice FLy or Spin model for good.
I have heard that SMER's decals are good.

although I don't have this particular kit I did purchase Smer Mig-17 a few months ago (which is nearing completion) for 10$ from a local hobby shop who was clearing them out, the kit had some challenges, a lot of flash and some horrible sink marks on the wings above the wheel bays, but overall for the price I paid for it I think it was worth it, so if its a subject your interested in and the price is right Id grab it

As you can expect of 5 GBP kit , Smer gives you only base and correct dimensions too make model. Many parts are by today's standards too rough and imprecise, and you should replace them with homemade. . When I worked on Ansaldo it was the only kit in 1/48 and I have had personal reasons why toke smer. . Today you have a choice and I would advise you to pay a little more to avoid problems. There is always room for improvement because no kit is perfect.

Hi guys!
Thank you very much for the info!
Altough it can be transformed into a great model (as Vulkanizer did) I think I'll rule out the Smer kit. I fear that I would loose the momentum if it would turn out to be too much a disappointment....
I'll have a look also to the Spin model Richard talk about... I never heard of this brand, is it any good?
Ciao

Spin models are Czech. I think the 1/48 SVA is in resin, and is a bit pricey.
