Has anyone built the Art Models 1/72 Yak-141 Freestyle? I have a fondness for Soviet fighters, and flew this in a flight sim - slamming it onto the deck and making a mess! Ever since I saw the YouTube video of a test pilot doing the same thing during trials I have wanted to build one. Getting one freighted to Australia is expensive, but I can pick one up when I am in the UK later this year. It it worth the dent in my baggage allowance, or should I avoid the kit? I would value anyone's opinion.

Well, from what I saw in my LHS, it's a typical short-run model. Plastic is a little bit on the thick side, sprue holders are of considerable size, but the panel lines are fine, and from I heard from colleagues the fit is decent. If you want to detail the model there is a PE set from NH Detail - http://scalemodels-bg.com/nhdetail/product/37/ .
If you are a fan the model is a very good option and as the box is considerably small (not like Trumpeter's Sea Fury one) it won't take so much space in your luggage.
Here's an in-box review with some photos - http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/art/kit_art_72005.shtml and a comparison review with the Anigrand offer http://scalemodels.ru/articles/3450-obzor-ArtModel-1-72-jak-141-Yak-141-Freestyle.html .

Good luck and I hope to see a SBS build of this plane from you soon,
Dimitar

Thanks Dimitar. Turns out it was cheaper to freight it! The luggage allowance is lethal! However it arrived last week and has gone onto the pile. At current rates of construction I should get to it some time in early 2043.
