Hi Guys,
I have a few quick shots of my progress so far on my Corsair. I have the detailing in the cockpit all done and put together and all the detailing on the engine done and put together. So far I am really happy with the outcome. The side shots of the cockpit don't show all the details but it gives a really good idea of how it is coming along. The Tamiya kit is all ready highly detailed as most of you all ready know from experience but I went ahead and went the photo etch route on this one too. I enjoy PE too much and I think I would suffer from withdrawal if I didn't do it. The PE set came with all the plug wires for the engine which I think looks really cool.
I also tried a different way of using a wash that I found mentioned on the internet. Instead of spraying future and then putting on the wash, wiping off the excess, and then spraying with flat.---I mixed my wash color very thinly in the future and then brushed that on. The wash goes into the cracks and crevices and the future helps seal the paint and dries fairly clear on the top flat surfaces all at the same time. Then once that dries all you have to do it spray flat to get rid of the shine. It takes just a little experimentation to get the mixture of paint to future because you want it just so the paint goes into and shows up in the cracks but still lets the future dry pretty clear on the top surfaces.
If the pictures don't show up and I screw this up you can see the pics on my site. Just visit my link below and go to my scale modeling page.
Good modeling and enjoy the pics,
Wayne

Thanks Tin_Can. This kit is the Tamyia 1/48th F4u-1/2 Bird Cage Corsair and am using the Eduard PE set for it. I will definately post pictures as I go along.

Looks awesome! I love the detail and would love to see a picture of the control panel(?) if you have them. Is it PE too?

These pics look absolutely beautiful !!!!!! The Corsair has always been a favorite of mine. I can't wait to see the whole plane finished.

Looking great so far. I love the way you weathered the cockpit showing wear and tear. Very convincing. Keep up the great work.

Hi Wayne
Beautiful job! :-) I can't wait to see more pics.
Corsairs are really in fashion lately... :-)... is anyone building a clipped-wing Royal Navy version?
All the best

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the compliments.
And NewtotheGame - here is a shot of the control panel. It isn't the clearest of shots again but it came out pretty good. It is also photo etch.
Thanks again all
