Could anyone tell me about a kit that I have? The kit is Casadio and is from Bologna Italy. The plane is a WWII British Spitfire F. XIVB with a Griffon 65 engine. The scale is 1:48 and is a metal kit. According to the box is from " The Best Fighter Planes Of WWII" Now I have been building kits for almost 29 years and have never seen this brand of kit?? I could really use some information from anyone!! This kit has never been touched and is still in the box. Should anyone be interested in a trade I love WW2 and modern fighter aircraft.

It's a pretty hard to find kit from the early 80's-late 70's. It was considered a excellent kit when it came out, evryone "wowed" over it when it came out, but it was a very expensive kit. I beleive they were trying to be the Pocher kits for aircraft models. Haven't seen one in years, and I've never seen one built up.

The Casadio catalogue included Spitfire Mk XIV, Mk 21, PR XIX, Seafire Mk 45 and seberal versions of the Fw 190 including 190A5/U15 torpedo carrying version. The PR XIX featured in the Osprey modelling manual 18 Supermarine Spitfire published in 2001.

Thank you I have no use for this kit. It's just collecting dust I removed the shrink wrap and it looks intact but has hand hands on at 1 time. Again thank you for the info

Interesting! I remember Italeri's 2005 catalog showed a few all-metal 1:48 scale kits. IIRC, there was a Spitfire which looked very much like that Spitfire, and a Fw 190. I've never seen those kits in shops, online or not. I wonder if they ever made it to the shops at all in Italeri boxes?

Hi Shawn,

I have the same kit, it belongs to my Brother-in-law. I purchased it 40 years ago as a Christmas present, he never got around to build it, so now I am going to enter it on e-bay.
At the time of purchase I found out that Casadio had gone into liquidation.

The only other kit I have found any information on was a german WW11 fighter. It sold for £70 plus & packing.

I have not heard anything about the moulds being aquired by any other manufaturer.

Casadio also made a series of racing cars, the castings were absolutely stunning.

Sorry, that is all I know.

Regards.
John.
