I am looking at building a vietnam dio with a helicopter theme. I have found a brilliant site that supplies 1/35 vietnam figures including pilots and door gunners but i am strugling finding vietnam era UHID's in 1/35 scale. Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier that can help me.
Many thanks

Heya, Anzac,
You mentioned a great Vietnam hobby supply website --- what is the website address:
"I have found a brilliant site that supplies 1/35 vietnam figures including pilots and door gunners but i am strugling finding vietnam era UHID's in 1/35 scale. "
Thanks, Pal!!

Why dont try on Academys UH-1C Heavy Hog , or Frog gunships ? theyre very nice and if you make one of them (or any other helicopter) you could also entry the "Death from Above" Campaighn. I got the UH-1C "Frog" and is very very nice model with good detail many parts , good armament and figures . Think about it

HUEY,
Being a trained US ARMY crewchief, I find it very hard to build a helicopter kit out of the box. I always seem to correct the kit faults, and go crazy w/ actual detail. The New "Death From Above" campaign will keep me within detail limits for a change of pace. Hence no after market details. Now we can just build a model for the enjoyment of the hobby and not suffer from A.M.S. will be a relaxing build. WHOO maybe I'll actually finish a model this month. !!! LOL The Fox

Anzac,
You could try one of the Revell of Germany 1/32 scale UH1D/H models. It is close enough to 1/35th and I think it is actually better than the Panda kits. The engraved lines and rivets are more to scale and you actually get an instrument panel as opposed to a decal. I still think the Revell kit is a great kit, although a few years old.

Hey Anzac,
Try this sight if you want to detail out that Panda UH-1D. Its called Cobra Company, and they have nice resin sets for different things. The set comes with new seats, instrument panels, and doors.

Here is another heads up for you Anzac.
Go here
Dragon Models
and click on Panda's Icon on the bottom right corner. They have a 1/35th scale "Chinook" coming out soon in different variants. One is a Vietnam gunship.
And Verlinden has a nice Veitnam equipment set that has lots of goodies.
Just a bit of info.

Anzac,
i was going to try it with the Academy 1/35 SOAR BlackHawk but with fast ropes out the door and rangers coming down. I forgot the idea cause I was intimidated about resculpting figures for the fast ropes. Ive seen several dio with helicopters suspended in the air.
The idea I was going to use was some how sliding wire through a hollow pice of string like "parachute cord".
