As a long time tank builder, i want to try my hand at building aircraft now.
I have just ordered 3 Eduard 1/48 scale WWII German aircraft.
A Bf 109, Fw 190 and a Bf 110.
What would be the best brand to paint these aircraft using an airbrush?

That depends whether you like enamels or acrylics. If you like Enamels, Xtracolor is good, especially because since they're glossy, you will be able to dispense with the usual gloss overcoat before decalling. Testors Model Master paints are also good.

If you like Acrylics, both Testors and Xtracolor have a range of acrylic colours.

I mention those two brands because they're fairly widely available and they have RLM colours pre-mixed. Brands that don't have all RLM colours premixed are as follows:
Enamel:
Revell
Humbrol
Pactra

Acrylic:
Tamiya
Vallejo
Gunze Sangyo
There is a terrific pair of paint charts available at PMS Stockholm.

I would add on the acrylic line, the Testors Model Master Acryl has a wide range of colors and isn't too shabby to work with either. Also, if you can find any Polly Scale paints they are good too, that line has been discontinued though. Good luck. Russell

I have started using Gunze Sanyo paints for my German Aircraft as they spray wonderfully and they do premixed colours for RLM

H64-H70 & H413-H423 has covered most of the RLM colours i have needed so far

Vallejo's Model Air paints are ready to airbrush straight from the bottle and are matched to RLM colors. Check out their website to get the colors you need.

I made a few attemps before with Vallejo air on tank models, and i was very dissapointed. I really dont understand the hype about this range of paints. For me, the Vallejo paints always clogs the tip of the airbrush very fast.
