I recenlty finished this F-47D with Wright Field Markings. I started with the 1/72 Academt P-47D bubble top kit. I made the correct rear fuselage spine like the late and post war P & F-47's had. When I started this build, I decided I wanted the finished piece to appear as though it had been restored for display as a Museum piece. Only one actual photo exist of the actual plane, so some details were improvised. I removed the guns and bomb racks. The wheels are not the correct ones for this plane, so the ones on the kit are held on with liquid tape until I can find or make the correct wheels. I foiled the entire plane, and polished it. The decals are from Fundekals with insignas from Micro Scale. This was super fun little kit, and a little special for me as I live by Wright Patterson Air Force Base where this plane flew in the late 1940's early 50's.
