The follwing picture is taken from a screenshot of the game "Call of Duty." This shot is from the ground as these planes were passing over Stalingard.

From what i can gather, this plane is a Focke-Wulf Condor. However someone is trying to convince me that it is instead a PE-8.

I would like some help please. Thanks

Hi there

That certainly looks like a Focke-Wulf Fw 200 to me... the wing-plan and long off-set gondola are very distinctive.

Hope this helps

Gotta go with Merlin. Here are some shots of the Fw-200 for comparison.

EDIT: OOPS! Just saw the line at the bottom of your post and see that you called it a Condor. You are correct. The FW200 is a Condor.

If he is passing over Stalingrad he must be confused 'cos he has his gear down!

He ran out of munitions and is trying instead to land on the enemy.

Hi there

Apparently, two Fw 200 Staffeln - 1. and 3. /KG 40 were sent to Russia as emergency transport aircraft to supply the German garrison at Stalingrad.

The 18 operational aircraft were known as Sonder-Unternehmung (Special Operation) Stalingrad and ferried supplies to a German occupied airfield. Later, as the situation deteriorated for the Germans, they were forced to drop supplies by parachute.

All the best

Butt I thought that wheels down was the international 'non-aggressive/hostile' signal for aircraft....

kkeefe don't shout that one too loud. There is some famous film footage of a Spitfire / Hurricane putting rounds into a He111 with it's wheels down (both wheels were down, so no failure in the hydraulics due to damage).

hehe, also trying to land... saw some real aggressive 747 passing over head the other day with all the wheels up.... then the airport made it non-aggressive, so it droped wheels. #:-)

Hi Chip

Revell did a 1/72 injection-moulded kit years ago, which might still be available. I think it was last re-issued as a pre-war civilian variant.

If you want something really ambitious, Koster do a multi-media vacuform in 1/48! :-)

All the best
