Ok this is not a rant, or maybe it is a little.

I know it costs a lot of money to manufacture models from start to finish but it slightly annoys me when I find all that the company has done is added new decals or a few added figures and some PE. Somthing that we could of done are selves anyway.

My point is why do they do it? Why not try better the actual model and not just the add ons.

If my asumption is correct it`s to do with distribution,Revell has done this several times with other manufacturer`s kits.I for one do`nt mind as it gets me kits i want from my LHS instead of having to pay postage from the interweb.
I think they vary the decals so as to not step on each others toes !.
If i`m wrong please feel free to put me right (everydays a school day !!)

Because re-working steel moulding dies is far more costly than outsourcing an etched fret or a print run of new decals.

just to update my post,i just picked Revell`s rebox of the Mercedes G4 from my local toy store For £19 - RESULT !!
