I saw this on the Airfix site, and it says 'New', but is it just a reboxing of the original 1968 kit? They re-released it again in the 80's but I don't think there were any updates done then.

I have heard there is a lot of work to get this kit to even look half decent.

Greetings Kevin,

This Airfix 1:72 mold goes way back before the 1980's. I remember purchasing one in 1972. And it was out before that. I'll check Brad K. Hansen's book but it is not a bad kit. The worst of it is the lower faces of the biplane wings are cut out and fit into the mates like a picture frame so there is a seam to erase and you tend to loose some detail in that process.

1968. YIKES.

It was the 1960's Airfix kits that stopped me from buying an Airfix kit for 40 years.

Hopefully it has been cleaned up a bit.
